Sea and Brown Trout Fishing Border Esk and Liddel Water.

Situated within easy distance of the Border Esk and the Liddel Water, Newcastleton and the Langholm beat has a range of options for the keen angler. Permits are required but can be bought on arrival in the village.

The salmon season runs from the 1st of April to the 31st of October and sea trout up to September 30th. The best fishing can be found after June where, with good water levels, fish start to run into beats such as Canonbie and the Lower Liddel. Good size catches can be made with salmon and sea trout bagged at over 10lbs over each season.

Both rivers flow through magnificent scenery the village of Newcastleton or Copshaw Holm, as it’s known locally, offers a warm welcome with places to eat, stay and shop.
