Welcome to the Newcastleton & District Community Council

This section gives a brief overview of what we do, holds current notices and minutes of recent meetings and has details of what to do in an emergency situation like flooding.

We have a discussion board so you can air your views on any local matter. There are also links to sites which we feel might be useful like SEPA, Scottish Water, Scottish Borders Council and so on.

The main role of the community council is to represent the local area, to consult with local residents and to pass their views on to public sector organisations such as Scottish Borders Council (SBC), NHS Borders, Scottish Executive, also major utility providers such as Scottish Water.

SBC has a responsibility to consult with us about how local services are delivered and inform us of any changes to services or any issues which may affect our area.

The current committee is Vikki Pounder (Chair), Pauline Gardner (Vice-Chair), Malcolm McGregor (Secretary/Treasurer), with members, Allan Mercer, Jackie Brown, Joan Robson, Alison Mitchinson and Margaret Elliot. The council has spaces for 12 thus there are spaces for co-opted members, if you are registered on the local electoral role then you are eligible to join.
