LOCAL HOUND TRAILSNewcastleton is part of a series of local hound trail run under the Border Hound Trailing Association. There are regular 'runs' at White Gate on the Langholm road. Races are held for puppies, veterans and graded hound trail dogs. The first weekend in July every year, the village host the Copshaw Common Riding as well as the establish traditional music festival. The weekend kicks off with a hound trail - at precisely 7.32am - at White Gate.This race is normally for puppies and the winner receives £100 prize generously donated by Jimmy Foster.
