Salmon and Trout Fishing Border Esk and Liddle Water

Situated within easy distance of the Border Esk and the Liddle Water, Newcastleton has a range of options for the keen angler.

The salmon season runs from the 1st of April to the 31st of October although the best fishing can be found after June where, with good water levels, fish start to run into beats such as Canonbie and the Lower Liddle.

Good size catches can be made with salmon over 10lbs taken each season.

For the keen sea trout angler the season runs from 1st April to 30th September and in a good year fish up 10lbs have been known!

Both rivers flow through some magnificent scenery and with the village of Newcastleton or Copshaw Holm, as it's known locally, offering a warm welcome with places to eat, stay and shop this is a fishing destination to remember.

Although a Scottish river, for fishery purposes The Enironment Agency states they will enforce a rod licence on the Scottish Esk and Liddle from 1st Apri 2006.

Anglers should ensure they have a valid ticke befoe they begin to fish on the Border Ek or Liddle Water
