Due to our geographical location we have played most of our football under the control of the Cumberland Football Association, mainly in the Carlisle & District League, unfortunately the League disbanded in 2003. The Club joined the Dumfries Amateur League but after 3 seasons we rejoined Cumberland County League and most of today's matches are against teams South of the Border. Football started way back in the 1500's when the Border Reivers played a game they called 'kick ball'. The ball was made of rags tied together and it is rumoured a sheep stealers head may have been used on occasion! Records of Hearts of Liddesdale history are patchy, but according to village folklore we have played Hearts of Midlothian on several occasion's, the one match we can corroborate was for the Scottish Cup 2nd Round played on 29 September 1893 which Hearts won 4-1. This game was played where Copshaw Place and Scott Street now stand, the original football park in the village. All enquiries to : |

The club was established in 1880 as Newcastleton Football Club, in 1909 we changed our name to Hearts of Liddesdale, which has become a highly respected football club throughout Cumberland and South Scotland.
