Green Bowling

Visitors welcome to come along to try the game. New members welcome to join on the day and throughout the season and of course a warm welcome back to current members.

The season opens this year with an open  23rd April 2011 and runs until mid September. Membership is £25 per year. There are various competitions throughout the year - check the events page on the web site. The open compeititons attracts clubs from through out the Borders, Dumfries and Galloway and Northern England. These are open to anyone but we also host internal competitions for members only: Gents singles, Handicap Singles, Handicap pairs, Club Pairs, Lidalia Pairs - fees of £1 per member with prizes for 1st and 2nd places.

The Bowling Club starts its Carpet Bowling actvities soon after the end of the Green Summer Season in October, and continues until the end of March. Membership for Carpet Bowls is £10 per season. Members competitions over thewinter period period are held on Monday, Thursday and Saturday evenings between 7-11pm. We host a Christmas competition with prizes of Turkeys and New Year competition featuring Whisky.

Associate Membership of the club for a full year is £10 which entitles you to socialise in the Clubhouse, which is licensed.

Liddesdale Short Mat Bowling

The club meets in the village hall throughout the Winter season on Monday evenings from 7pm till 9.30 and Thursday afternoon between 2-4pm. Short mat bowling takes place on three x 20 metre mats and uses the same bowls as for Green Bowling. This is not as easy as it looks but is great entertainment with plenty of laughs. Scores on the Mondays are cumulated for the entire season so an overall winner can be announced. Play is usually by teams of two or three, picked at random, so any newcomers do not have to stand alone.

There are three separate knockout competitions: The Triples, held in early March; The Singles, held in late March, and  The Pairs, held mid April, usually on the last night.

Admission is £2 for both Mondays and Thursdays

New members are very welcome, especially juniors, who only need to pay £1.
